Snowballs Flying…

I’m not going to lie…yesterday during Quilt Sue’s Christmas Quilt-a-long…I played hooky…but ONLY in the morning!!  Yup…those darn Garage Sales did it again…dragged me out of my sewing room in the wee hours of the morning!  I really meant to stay home and sew but when I glanced at the Garage Sale Classifieds I saw that one GS was advertising Quilting Supplies!!  Eureka!!  I was dressed and out the door in a shot…2 inch squares of Christmas fabric trailing after me right out the door!!

So was it worth it?…leaving Quilt Sew and my fellow quilters in my dust…YOU BET!!  Sorry gang …but it was good…really good…Look what I found and for ONLY $15!

Lovely fabric…tons of Thimbleberry, Moda and Whimsical …and large pieces…many are at least 1-2 metres in size…

ALSO…a huge piece of Warm and Natural..Lap/Double size and two rulers…did I mention ALL for $15?  Thought so…!!!

I also found this pottery dish…I am a sucker for leaf imprints…for $1.

So..all in all…not a bad haul…Am I forgiven for deserting the Quilt-a-long crew!!  I won’t do it again…well…except for maybe…next Saturday morning…

ON THE QUILT-A-LONG FRONT~

By the time I got home it was stinking hot…SEW hot that I put THREE  fans in the sweat room…and all were pointed at ME!!  Do you know how hard it is to sew with wind hitting you from all directions…many times I had Snowballs flying!! Really gets you into the Christmas Spirit!!   I called it a day when I got this far…

To make up for yesterday morning, today I will get this together and put on the borders so that I can start on the embroidery work.

It’s going to be cute…don’t you think?

P1090500

Before I trimmed the little corners off the snowmen I sewed another seam and now I have a pile of little 1 3/4 inch half square triangles…I’m not sure what for…but I will think of something!!

P1090501

Now I have to go and check how everyone else did in the Christmas Sew A-Long…if you want to check too, then hop on over to Quilt Times…Sue has the coffee on and she was making Gingerbread Cookies last time I checked~ :o)

YIKES where are the fans?…it’s another HOT one!!

Have a super Sunday and Happy Quilting!~P

  1. Your GS haul is AMAZING. I am sew envious as we don't ever have anything like that here. The snowballs look wonderful and I can't wait to see this one with the embroidery on. Then I think, as your punishment for playing hookey, you will have to send this quilt to me! (giggle) I love the fabrics you've used.

  8. What a haul of fabric! I can understand why you played hooky. I went to a quilt fabric sale a long time ago at a woman's home that was moving. She wasn't home at the time and the husband was assisting me. He was trying to get me to buy fabric that his wife had not wanted in the sale. Said she had just as much fabric at the home they were moving to. I also heard that, if it was the husband handling the transaction, he sold the fabric cheaper. LOL!

  17. Wow!! You did amazing at the garage sale. What a find!!! I love your snowball blocks. They are coming along great.

I have an idea of what you can make with the left over hst's. I had some left over from a project that were the same size as yours. I made potholders with them. Here is the link. They would make a great Christmas gift. The star potholder used the same size hst's.
