One Thing Led to Another...

Yesterday morning I was on the search for a ball of Valdani Perle Cotton...my dark green ball to be precise!  It was not in my perle cotton bin and I NEEDED it!

I am VERY careful with my Valdani threads, as there is only one shop on the Island that carries it...(FYI, it's Kaleidoscope Quilt Shop in Cobble Hill...and she only has a few colours...BUT it's a start and I ALWAYS make a fuss over them when I stop in!  But I digress...:o)   Sheesh...

So the hunt was on for the green Valdani...maybe I had tucked it into a UFO bin...which meant that I had to go into the dreaded UFO cupboard! (music from JAWS begins to play...)

NO, I didn't find the thread... BUT I did find a bin with random strips of fabric, unfinished blocks and random blocks that didn't get used up in other projects...there were even finished blocks of stitcheries that I had completed years ago!  Before I knew what 'possessed' me, I had all these bits and pieces out on my sewing room floor and I began to play...I was determined that THIS BIN was not going back in that cupboard!!

Here's the results at the day's end...

Do you remember these free stitcheries from someone's blog...done YEARS ago?
Dang cute too!  Sorry about my pictures...but I took them last night and it was late...

Below are blocks from the 'Deceased Quilter's Garage Sale'!  They have been hanging around for about four years...finally put into a runner!  I think she would be happy...or as happy as a decease quilter can be!!

I love the 'low volume' fabric in the middle! :o)

And I had these strips left over from another project (long gone) but it made a sweet little log cabin table mat!

Yes, I was in my Happy Place...and when you are happy and having fun, there is no stopping you!  :0)  And the bin?...It's empty!  Happy Dancing all round!  Maybe I should venture into 'THAT' cupboard more often!  (...Jaws Music....starting...)

And the Valdani Thread?  "HUH?...What THREAD?"

Have a Sunny Sunday and Happy Stitching! ~P

  3. Lol - Jaws music - hahahaha!! That's exactly how I feel! I was SO LUCKY a few months ago to buy a box of threads from an IG gal - Valdani perle cottons, Cosmo embroidery floss and some sets of Weeks Dye Works floss. $80 for all of it, but I'd bet there's about $500 worth of threads! Congratulations on all of your new finishes - they look wonderful! I am particularly smitten with your stitcheries :)

  4. Awesome finishes. The baskets are adorable. You feel free when a project is completed and one less thing to do in your sewing room.

  10. Well it's always fun when you start looking for something and get totally sidetracked on something else. And look what you accomplished! Very nice days work.

  12. I cant believe you got finished three cute USEFUL little projects AND the bin was empty!! That goes down as a great day in my book! I always seem to end up with 2 more UFO and moving contents to another bin or the rubbish bin!

  13. I always hint at the local shops that they need to be stocking Perle Cotton. So far they're ignoring me.:) Fun to just dive into a project like that and use up some prior quilting efforts!

  14. Great story! Sounds like something I could do...did...have done...maybe more than once. Yep! One thing definitely leads to another. But, you have good results to show for it.

  15. shame you have mislaid the perle cotton but if you had not you would not have created all these new pieces! I am sure it will turn up. I have to buy mine on line, mind you I still like DMC best but they have discontinued so many of the colours, they are the ones I want of course!
