Row by Row Experience....

While in Nanaimo yesterday I whipped into two quilt shops....both shops were participating in the Row By Row Experience and I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about!   You have probably already heard about it...
Quilt Shops in the US and Canada have created a row of blocks unique to their shop (this year's theme is WATER).  So… it's like a shop hop, but it's not... no fees, no cards to stamp, and we have all summer to play! All you have to do is simply visit any of the participating shops and receive a free pattern for a row in a quilt. Combine your rows in any way to create a unique quilt or you could create a runner or a small table mat with your block!   It would be a great way to discover new quilt shops and have fun collecting rows...and this Row by Row Experience definitely gets you into the shops!
At Serge and Sew I received this pattern...called "Message in a Bottle"...DANG cute!  I wish I had brought my camera...even forgot my iPhone! :o( as the finished runner was so adorable!

And at 'Snip and Stitch" I picked up the Row Pattern for 'West Coast View'...another wonderful pattern...complete with mountains, water and trees!

Yup...The Row by Row Experience got me into the shops...BUT be warned!  Other 'stuff' might just follow you home!!   Look at what else was in my bag when I got home!!  Fabric for my stash...

And I can see a yellow and grey baby quilt in my future...

With the cutest baby chick fabric thrown into the mix!!  Ahhhhh.....

'Snip and Stitch' was having a half price sale...sew...what's a quilter to do?  :o)) I have no will power...NONE!

Have a super Saturday and Happy Stitching!~P

  1. The Row by Row has been a lot of fun but I'm not finished visiting all the shops. There are a lot of patterns that I would still like to get.

  2. Hahahahaha I am feeling your pain, with things following me home. Took an overnight road trip with 3 others just this week. Collected lots of fun things and rows along the way. It's just too darn addicting. I'm already planning 2 more road trips! ;-)

  3. LOL! those 'free' Row by Row patterns can get quite expensive! But I guess that's what it's all about.

  4. I like your Row by Row patterns better than most of mine. Think I got 3 (outta 6) that had umbrellas! Two had whales and one was umbrellas but beach rather than rain. So I'll be visiting more shops hoping for a better selection of patterns. And I've been pretty good about purchases except that I've been buying the license plates which are kinda pricey for the little piece you get. :-(

  5. How fun. I saw a row by row pattern with ducks that really caught my attention, but need to investigate what shop it came from. These are two cute. I'm definitely going to try to track down these two shops. But it would have been more fun to have gone with you. :)

  6. Glad you had fun getting the row by row-----some of the rows are beautiful. I have now collected rows from OR, WA, CA, FL, WI,MN, MI and Canada thanks to wonderful kind friends who went shopping for me. Now it's time to select which ones I want in my quilt.

  8. Our little shop here in town is participating in the Row by Row. They have a big US/Canada map and have customers stick pins in their home location. They've had a lot of Canadian quilters stopping in to shop!

  11. SEW cute. It's the Kits and Fabric License Plates that cost, not to mention all that Fuel to travel. I collected rows and made my Quilt with 11 of them. Many of mine were Fusible Applique and I didn't want all FISH. so I had to keep Rowing. I will have my Prize Winning quilt on the Blog Monday. It's on Facebook already.

  12. the row by row give away is a good way to make a quilt/runner etc as you can make as many or as few as you like, they do not do it over here but maybe one day it will catch on, mind you we do not have any quilt shops nearby anyway. Some nice fabric you have there.
