Yup…that’s me, getting up on the wrong side of the bed!! Let me explain…
I received my Primitive Quilts and Projects Magazine a couple of weeks ago. Love this magazine…it’s the ONLY one that I subscribe to so I look forward to receiving it…waiting at the mailbox for days at a time!! The Summer 2014 issue certainly didn’t disappoint…SEW worth the wait!! I keep the current issue out and handy and go through it whenever I get a minute.
Yup…lots of really nice projects…like this one…simple and sweet!
And love the subtle qualities of this beauty…doesn’t it look like it’s been faded and loved by time!
Even ‘Plays With Wool Designs’ came up with a winner…and this time they included a 3” drawing of the vine! Yay…it’s better than NOTHING…(which is what I got in the last pattern of theirs that I bought!! If you remember I wasn’t so kind with the review of their ‘Bittersweet Mat’…you can read about it HERE!)
And isn’t this one sweet…designed by Catherine Hughes…an old time favourite using the shoofly block.
I also liked this Scrappy Quilt…with the scalloped border!! It wasn’t until I was reading the Contents Page that I saw that Laural Arestad designed this quilt…so I flipped back! WHAT? The quilt is called ‘Words to Live By’ but WHERE are the words?
There is no close up picture of the words…In the picture it looks like big stitch quilting around the nine patches…(Laural you were robbed with this…there should have been a CLOSE-UP of your hand stitching!!) In fact you have to go to the fold out sheet to actual SEE the words that Laural stitched onto this quilt! As far as I’m concerned it’s these stitched words that knock this quilt out of the ball park!! Wowzers!! I love this idea!! Well done, Laural!!
Now flipping through PQ magazine…I came to this wool mat by Lynda Hall…
See…I told you I got up on the wrong side of the bed!!
Have a wonderful Wednesday and Happy Quilting!~P
Thanks for the review, Paulette. There's certainly lots to see! I really like that wall hanging with the single log cabin block. It's almost modern!
ReplyDeleteI love getting my issues and have such big plans to make them all, lol. Someday I might get there, but I tend to sit things aside and then make something a few years later.

Paulette I agree -- loving the latest Prim Quilts Mag... The House that Jack built was created by my good friend Debbie Wick -- she is so very talented. I've taken many a class from Debbie and that pattern is one of my favorites. Thanks for the sweet reviews. Hugs, Karen
ReplyDeleteI guess I got up on the wrong side too. I love this issue of the magazine. And that little log cabin in the first picture is my favorite. Blogless Sandy has already made it...(of course she has)! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have considered making the log cabin piece with the simple applique on it. Are you tempted by anything in the magazine?
ReplyDeleteHello and thank you for your nice comments about The House That Jack Built. Have fun selecting all your favorite strips for the log cabin block and enjoy your wool appliqué and embroidery this summer on the little house and flowers! Sincerely, Debbie Wick
