Just because no quilting has been happening around here doesn’t mean that I can’t TALK quilting!
If you are a regular reader you may remember that about two weeks ago I was working on this quilt…
It’s going to be a quilt for my daughter, Maggie….it’s called Science Fair by Jaybird. Wellll…my quilting daughter, Erin saw it, said she loved it and wanted to make one for herself! (the ultimate compliment!!) I told her that I would mail her the pattern and the special Hexagon Ruler when I was finished…
Well…in just a matter of days Erin had found a pattern, the ruler and fabric at a local Quilt Shop…and had the fabric cut out and ready to go!! Throw in a week of Spring Break…and Erin has herself a drop dead GORGEOUS quilt!! I mean FINISHED, beautifully quilted and she even tackled bias binding to go around those hexagons!
I’m not showing you any pictures of her quilt…nope, not going to do it!! If you want to see her quilt then you are going to have to go to her house…BUT be warned…you are going to be amazed!! This is a quilt made by someone who has been quilting for LESS THAN SIX MONTHS!! She didn’t even own a sewing machine (and had never operated a machine) until she tripped over one in a thrift shop last summer and thought “hmmm…I could use a machine for mending!!” Yup…you are going to be amazed!! I know I am!
Maybe I should bundle up my bits and pieces of my Science Fair project and have Erin finish it off for me! It’s a thought…but I have a feeling Erin is already on to another project!
Go ahead and check it out…I dare you!! :0))
Have a Thrilling Thursday and Happy Quilting~P
OMG...you have spawned a quilting genius! Just visited her site...OMG!
ReplyDeleteYes, you are so right. Erin's quilt is amazing...love her fabric choices and her quilting is stunning. Of course, yours is going to be awesome too...great colours!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is amazing and so is her quilt and the rest of the quilting she is doing. She really has a knack for it, and continues to amaze me with her beautiful work.

Wow, she did an amazing job, even the quilting is marvelous!
ReplyDeleteThe nut didn't fall very far from the tree.....or the gene from the gene pool....or whatever. You produced a very artistic and capable daughter who seems to be able to do anything she sets her mind to. Her quilt is terrific.... and took no time at all to complete. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteWOW! you have powerful genes in your family. She did an astounding job. You should be so very proud. I want a daughter just like yours. To late for me. though. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI have a teaching about inheritance ... it's from a Christian perspective but applies to all aspects of life. The gist is that if you have managed to bring up your children well, or taught the next generation well, They will automatically extend your knowledge an experience.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that Erin is doing this. I love that your daughter is doing such beautiful work. I also love that she has a very individual modern style. Great work.... both Mother and daughter.
Blessings
Going to be a lovely quilt. I have also purchased this pattern and ruler, but haven't yet found fabrics to make it. But it did inspire me to create a summer travel project, using English Paper Piecing, for somewhat a similar, yet different, design.

Your daughter did a beautiful job! Christine
ReplyDeleteVery impressive, it is also fabulous how quick she has jumped into more difficult patterns. I really like the way she machine quilted it.
ReplyDeleteThat is just an amazing quilt SP. She has obviously inherited the quilty gene hasn't she?
ReplyDeleteJust took a peek at Erins' quilt and it is beautiful. You must be very proud!
ReplyDeleteThat apple fell close to the tree, didn't it? Hers is stunning - yours is as well!
ReplyDeleteI am teaching this quilt at a local shop in Corrales NM, later this month! It was so much fun to make!
