First Things First......

Well today is the day that I start to pack up the 5th wheel to go to Alberta for my eldest daughter's wedding! My daughter, Erin is 29, a school teacher and marrying a lovely young man. If I were to go out 'shopping' for a man for her to marry I could not find a better match. He is the kindest, most thoughtful, patientest (is there such a word? well if there is, he's it!) , most considerate man, PLUS he is 6'4" and VERY good looking. "She done good!" OOOPS, I got side tracked...... So I have to pack the 5th wheel......WELL FIRST THINGS FIRST......before I pack anything I have got to decide what sewing project to take??? Hmmmm .....My husband LOVES it if I sew while he drives, as I can't sew and co-pilot at the same time. Let me share the two last projects that I completed while 'co-piloting'. The first is called "The Rustic Star" but I left off the star (the star goes where the flowers arrangement is) and the other is from the book called 'Primitive Gathering' (I think-no time to check...I am suppose to be packing up, remember....shhhh -blogging comes first....first things first....)

These were made out of old winter coats!!!! Yes, really-they have to be wool and you felt them by taking the coats apart, washing them in hot water and throwing them in the dryer (yikes I still have to wash clothes to pack!!! First things first.....)
So what should I work on while traveling this time .... Hmmmmmmm......well you will just have to check back to see what I have decided! (Don't you just hate that!! ;) )

Now, I promised a fellow blogger a family favourite recipe for Berry/Fruit Crisp.

Berry Crisp

6 C. fruit (apples, berries, rhubarb, pears, peaches, apricots, plums, whatever!!)
1/3 C sugar (or a little more if you like it sweet)
2 tbsp flour
1 tbsp grated lemon zest
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix this and put it in a baking dish.

1/2 C butter
1/2 brown sugar
1/2 flour
2/3 C rolled oats

Mix till crumbly and sprinkle over fruit. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, until crisp is bubbling. Serve with ice cream!

Now I MUST get packing!!! Hmmm, what to take?...... Have a great day! Paulette

  5. Enjoy the wedding. While you're packing, don't forget a good supply of Kleenex - mother of the bride ALWAYS needs paper hankies for those crying moments!

I'll look forward to hearing about the wedding and to seeing your take-along project.
