My Very First Blog Entry

Well here goes nothing.......

For the last year I have been reading other quilter's blogs-getting inspiration and ideas off their websites. So I thought maybe I should try this......so here I am giving it a whirl. Kind of a show and tell to the quilting and crafting world.

Let me tell you a bit about myself-I am a wife, mother of three daughters and surrogate mother to a 5 year old cockapoo and a cockapoo puppy (8wks.). I retired from teaching exactly two years ago and to my amazement, I love it! Who wouldn't......it's Saturday EVERYDAY!!! Sewing, jewelry making, scrapbooking, stitching and felting keep me happy and busy but quilting is my great passion. I love to put together the the tops but the actual machine quilting doesn't thrill me....so I joined a hand-quilting group. What an amazing bunch of women! Every Wednesday we meet in the old United Church Hall and sit around two quilts put onto frames and stitch and talk. Of course we break for coffee and goodies and later for lunch and mooorrrre goodies. Some of the "ol'timers" have been meeting for over 30 years!! Now that I'm blogging I will have to take some pictures of the quilting gals in action!

My newest - a Baby Quilt

Here is a picture of a baby's quilt that I am currently putting the binding on. I machine stitched this as I need it by July 5th. We are having a baby shower for my niece as she is having a baby girl in Aug. I got the general idea for the quilt from Moda Bake Shops blog. Isn't it sweet? It is my first attempt at making pinwheels and prairie points. I made the pinwheel the same size as the the sqares from a charm pack (5 1/2 inches). I wanted to see if I could use charm packs to make pinwheels. (I have a ton of charm packs and thought this would be a good way to use them up!) I am a true quilter-I have enough fabric to start my own shop!

  4. Just a little hello from Switzerland. I've been reading your lovely blog, admiring all those beautiful quilts you made. I am a "new" quilter (I only started one year ago) and therefore quite curious to see what experienced quilter create. I'm sure I'll pop in here again.
    Have a good time!
