Christmas Quilt-A-Long…Proof is in the Christmas Pudding…

There was no doubt about it, I got a lot done during The Christmas Quilt-A-Long…but somehow, what gets done and what you HOPE will get done, are always two different things!

SEW…this is what I did…I cut out all these 0NE inch sashing pieces from some red civil war fabric that I had teamed up with the basket fabric…remember ALL of these wee baskets were cut from ONE Collection For a Cause (Faith) Charm Pack.  You get a lot of bang for your buck with this quilt!

I have no one inch Accuquilt strip die, so I did the cutting the old fashion way and used the rotary cutter!  OUCH!!  Took forever!

And finally got two sides of sashing sewn onto the 81 blocks…

Then I cut out and sewed on the alternating plain blocks…I chose this plaid cotton…soft and subtle and liked the look.

Eureka…I finally have ROWS!!

And of course I had HELP…

..LOTS of help!!

By dinner time…I was madly chain piecing the 1” strips to wee 1” corner stones…before I gave up and called it a night!

So the quilt isn’t a topper…YET…but it is getting there!  And I do LOVE it so far!  Those wee baskets are DANG sweet!!

If you want to make your own Wee Basket Quilt, Brandie from ABC Blog gave us a tutorial.  Remember it only takes ONE CHARM PACK to make 81 baskets!  Thanks SEW much Brandie…I am thrilled with this quilt!

And thank you, Quilt Sue and Hazel, who was our February Christmas Quilt-A-Long Hostess!!  You did an awesome job!  My little project may not be a Christmas quilt but it felt like a wonderful Christmas GIFT as I laid out all the pieces and it formed a quilt…a gorgeous quilt!!  Don’t you LOVE that feeling…when you lay it all out and then sit back and appreciate it..I mean REALLY APPRECIATE IT…dogs and all…and you can see the quilt that it has become…AND YOU LIKE IT!!  Thanks again, ladies!!

This month, Hazel also started the world working on a Mystery quilt, designed by none other than our very own author, Quilt Sue!!  You might want to see what has happen so far…hurry over to Hazel’s for a look-see!

One things for sure, we shall see Quilt Sue again NEXT MONTH for our next Christmas Quilt-A-Long…I wonder who our next hostess will be?

Have a SUNNY Sunday and Happy Quilting!~P

  8. What a beauty this quilt is going to be. Love your choice of red for the sashing, and the plaid alternating blocks are wonderful. I don't usually think of plaid with CW fabrics, but this fabric works so well.
