Renee's Barns...

In between selling her home, moving and working on building a new home, Renee has managed to find time to stitch these seven barns!   They are from the book 'Where the Cows Come Home' by Kathy Cardiff and Taylor Olvera!  Wool applique, stitched onto cotton.

Aren't they magnificent...and did I mention that they are STITCHED?!  Renee, who is new to working with wool, is HOOKED!  She has two more blocks to stitch and in her words... "this project has been like a good book...I don't want to put it down and I don't want it to end!!"  AND she's wondering what our next project will be?

I think I can safely predict a road trip to Temecula in January...with the first stop being The Wool Lady's Shop, followed by Primitive Gathering's Quilt Shop!  Do you think we can find a project there to keep Renee happy...and busy?  :o))

Thanks for sharing, Renee!  Your blocks are absolutely DDG!!

Have a terrific Tuesday and Happy Stitching!~P

Vintage Truck...

I had such fun on Saturday putting this wool truck together...It's from Buttermilk Basin's 'Vintage Tree Farm Quil'...and let me tell you, in real life, it is DANG SWEET!!

In fact, the whole quilt is dang sweet!  Stacy has out done herself...as usual!

As we come down to the final days of the Martha Stewart American Made Contest I would just like to congratulate Stacy on running a great race...it was fun, wasn't it!  Regardless of the outcome, Buttermilk Basin will always be a winner in my book!

Speaking of voting and races...TODAY is election day in Canada! None of the candidates are quilters...that I know of! And none of the candidates are promising to lower the price of fabric...Darn it anyway!  So I'm not going to tell you HOW to vote...:o))  But I will say, that if you are a Canadian, get out there and do your civic duty!  GO VOTE!  :o))

Have a magical Monday and after you vote...Happy Stitching!~P

Memory Quilts...

Last weekend I helped a friend quilt two memory quilts.  Her teenage brother had died tragically in a car accident two years earlier and it was time to turn his old t-shirts into memory quilts...

Even though Jessica had never quilted before, she did an AMAZING job!

Here's the first quilt....

This quilt was a gift for Jess' sister....

There were tons of great T-Shirt logos...and family photos...
And the second quilt was for Jess' mom...

I can't think of receiving anything more special...

Jess did a wonderful job on her quilts...the fabric was t-shirt fabric (front and back) which is VERY stretchy!  The mid-arm did not like it but we plowed through and got 'er done and they turned out beautiful! No puckers front or back!  As you can see, we stitched organic lines...or wonky lines.  We kept it simple...

These two quilts are going to bring Jess' mom and sister a lot of comfort and will stir up all kinds of memories of a wonderful son/brother!  Jess has two more quilts to make...one for her niece and one for herself!  I hope I get the chance to help Jess with these next two quilts as it was such an honour!

Wishing you a SUNNY Sunday and Happy Stitching!~P
