Grandma of the YEAR!!

Don't you hate organized quilters who have their Christmas gifts (ie quilts) already wrapped and ready to put under the tree...and now they are busy making Christmas gifts for THEMSELVES!  GEEZE LOUISE...!!!

Sandy has BECOME just such a quilter!  Remember a couple of weeks ago she finished that beautiful QUEEN size bed quilt for her DS and DIL... and now she has made this for herself!
We both bought the pattern at Primitive Gatherings CA shop last Winter...her's is made and mine is still in the package...somewhere?  Dang stinking CUTE...

WAY cuter in real life!  Yup...this is going up on Sandy's wall and she is going to teach her two grand-daughters the song to go along with it!  What a Grandma!

And it doesn't stop there!

Ok...OK...Sandy is getting the Grandma of the Year award because look at what she made her grandkids for Christmas...monster placemats!...They each get a monster placemat for home and they each get a monster placemat for her house...and they are ADORABLE!

They all seem to have a personality of their own...

This pattern is called 'Monster Mats' by Desiree’s Designs.

Yup...we all agreed...Sandy is making the rest of us look bad!

I always work best under pressure... but seeing Sandy's happy SATISFIED smile makes me think that next year I should start earlier...
What about you?  Are your gifts ready to be put under the tree?

Thanks for the Show and Tell, Sandy! We really enjoyed it...didn't we?  ^$#*&@!

Have a wild and wonderful Wednesday and Happy Stitching!~P

Vintage Finds...

I am having such fun working on Buttermilk Basin's 'Vintage Tree Farm' quilt...growing trees...and building trucks!
I decided to work on this in pieces...Hand stitching the truck onto a smaller section of the quilt is a lot easier than working with the whole quilt...
I'm hoping to finish stitching the truck today...:o)) I will keep you posted...

And on another front...."SCORE!!" :o))

My eldest daughter asked me to keep my eye open for wooden wine boxes...she has a Pinterest Project in mind...or at least she did!  It's been over a year but I finally stumbled across TWO!
Look at the Wine stamp...Cook Street Village!  All three daughters lived in an apartment right in Cook Street Village on Cook St. in Victoria while attending University...This will be a nice keepsake of 'the good ol'days'! I would have to say that this was MEANT TO BE...and at $2.50 each, it was a "SCORE"!!

I can't wait to see what she does with them!

Have a terrific Tuesday and Happy Stitching!~P

Bloggers are the BEST!

Have you ever seen such a cute magazine cover...well LUCKY ME..I am now the proud owner of this magazine...and YES, the fox pattern is inside this magazine!  I've never made a stuffy before but if ever there was a stuffy that I WANTED to make, it's this sweet little guy!

So to make a long story short...Krista from Poppyprint Creates Blog had a pattern published in this Australian magazine,"HOMESPUN"..and after emailing back and forth...I ended up purchasing a copy off of her!

There is even a lovely FULL PAGE article on Krista...yup Poppyprint is famous! She really spilled the DIRT...it IS, after all, a garden quilt that she made!  :o))

This quilt called  'Cutting Garden' has got to be the happiest and most cheerful quilt EVER!  This would be the perfect quilt to cheer up a friend, a loved one, a baby, a young girl or someone who loves to garden...heck, it would cheer up anyone!

It is Jelly Roll friendly...and LOOK at all those amazing colours!  This would be a great quilt to do with friends...so that you could SHARE fabric.  If you took the colours...red, blue purple, green, yellow and pink...and each bought one piece of fabric in each of the colours...cut them into 2 1/2" strips and then shared, you would have a wide variety to start with!  How fun would that be!
And...LOOK at what I found sitting in my 'Dog Daze Quilt' tote...WAITING to be used (well actually it was waiting to be put away...)...yummy leftovers ...and lord knows what I'll find in my stash?!  Looks like I have a great start for my 'Cutting Garden' bin!

This is going to be a FUN one to make...a real FEEL GOOD quilt if ever there was one!

AND like all good magazines, there were other projects that caught my eye...like THIS adorable pillow!

Oh man, those Australian quilters know how to stitch!!
And I don't know how often I have said I wish I had a pattern for ants or lady bugs or dragon flies?!  Now I have a pattern for each...including the cutest grasshopper and butterfly!

So THANK YOU, Krista for coming to my pattern rescue!!  Congratulations on getting published AGAIN!!  (Krista has even written a FANTASTIC BOOK...which you can read about HERE!!)  Yup, little Poppy Print has done well for herself...and I predict she is going to SOAR because you just can't hold good talent down!

Have a magical Monday and Happy Stitching!~P
